Painted cotton textile banner telling the story of the Vessantera Jataka
This is the story of the life of Prince Vessantera who practices generosity rather to a fault (he gives away his sacred white elephant and his two children). However his good karma, amassed over more than five hundred previous lives, and recounted in other jatakas, means he will be reborn as the Buddha.
Lao mid 20th century.
